The COMANDANTE C40 LAB Series Hammerhead® was born from a single idea that burr geometry might be the key to unlocking flavours that once went unnoticed. That's the thinking that drives development at COMANDANTE's Bavarian Burr Lab, where founder Bernd Braune has spent over a decade reimagining what a conical burr set can do.

Hammerhead® is the result. Forged with a distinctive Hexagonal Block Blade geometry and named for the shark it resembles, it was built to handle the size and density of larger beans like Pacamara, drawing out their full-bodied sweetness and fruit-forward complexity. Years of refining the geometry, teeth and angles turned it into something far more versatile: a high-performance burr that grinds beautifully across the spectrum, from a chunky Pacamara to a petite heirloom.

The result, as COMANDANTE's development team describes it, is coffee that's dense and juicy, with defined fruit clarity and structured sweetness.
At its heart sits Nitro Rex®, COMANDANTE's custom stainless steel, made in an Alpine region renowned for steelcraft for centuries. With over 17% chromium plus precisely balanced vanadium, molybdenum and micro-alloys, it's engineered for exceptional hardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. A complex remelting process gives it a fine, homogeneous structure and a silver-white, coating-free surface, leaving it robust, durable and completely neutral in flavour. Hence, nothing stands between you and the pure character of the bean.
